Matt Nichols is a Partner in Asset-Backed Finance and Global Head of Residential Credit at Apollo.  He is also a member of the Asset-Backed Finance investment committee.  Prior to joining the firm in 2026, Matt was a Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Residential Credit, and a member of the Executive Committee at Pretium.  Previously, Matt was the Founder and CEO of Deephaven Mortgage, which was acquired by Pretium in 2019.  Prior to founding Deephaven in 2012, Matt was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs where he co-led the residential mortgage loan business.  He holds a BA in Biochemistry from Amherst College.
