Mr. Baker is a Partner in Apollo Credit based in London where he serves as Head of the European Principal Finance (EPF) and Co-Head of the European Asset-Backed Finance (ABF) businesses as well as supporting a variety of credit and real asset strategies and initiatives.  He is a Member of the European Management Team and serves on the EPF, ABF, CRE Debt, and Large Commitment Investment Committees.  Prior to joining Apollo in 2012, Mr. Baker was a Managing Director at Oaktree Capital Management and The Carlyle Group focused on special situation equity, distressed debt and private credit investments across their opportunistic fund series. Mr. Baker began his financial services career at JPMorgan Chase and its predecessor organizations where he served as a Vice President in the M&A Group executing advisory and financing transactions for the firm’s financial sponsor and FIG clients as well as serving as a Special Aide to the Co-Heads of Global Investment Banking.

Prior to his graduate school studies, Mr. Baker served as the Chief Speechwriter and Policy Assistant to Governor George W. Bush, subsequently the 43rd President of the United States. Prior thereto, Mr. Baker served on active duty as an Officer in the United States Army.

Mr. Baker received his MBA from Harvard Business School, JD from The University of Texas School of Law where he was an Associate Editor of The Texas Law Review, and a BA degree in Government magna cum laude from Harvard University.
